Day 3 of 3: The Resurrection

I love the shift that occurs between Good Friday and Easter Sunday:

We go from reflecting on the Lord's sacrifice to rejoicing over His resurrection.

The gruesomeness of Friday becomes the glory of Sunday.

Our focus is turned from the occupied cross to the unoccupied tomb.

It's a beautiful commemoration of the holy weekend that changed everything, and I've enjoyed taking a fresh look at those three days this year. As I considered day one, I was struck by the Lord's example of  submission and suffering. I even took the time to contemplate the Sabbath's rest of that second day, which we rarely mention.

As I pondered the third day, I became increasingly grateful that Jesus was not just a martyr. There is something so powerful about being able to say that He is our RISEN Savior. He is not in the tomb. His body is nowhere to be found. Thank God for Day Three! It's the truth of that day that sets us apart from every other religion in the world. It gives us more than enough reason to celebrate every Easter and everyday in between.

"For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures." 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 NKJV
