Leaving So Soon?

I love the beach. LOVE it. I love the sound of crashing waves. I love the feel of sand under my feet. I love laying on the beach with a great book (and serious sunscreen). I love the feeling of getting away from it all.
That feeling of escape is exactly the one I feel when I have the privilege to be on a spiritual retreat. There is an incredible restfulness and restoration from such an experience. I love going "there" with my heart.
Funny thing is, while I cannot spend every day at the beach, I CAN spend every day retreating with Jesus. I sometimes forget this. Sometimes I treat special moments with Jesus as if they are just a trip to the beach. It is as if this energy and restoration can only be had for fleeting moments.
I need to be reminded from time to time (and perhaps, you do too) that there are no beach trips with Jesus. His grace and beauty are available to us every day. The waves come in and the waves go out, and the rest one finds in the sound of the movement of the Holy Spirit can restore our souls like the most luxurious of get-aways.
So lay out your towel, grab your book (you know the One), and settle in for a little restoration.
