Cooking Instructions

You need to cook eggs at a minimum of 160 degrees in order to kill salmonella.
You need to cook turkey and chicken at a minimum of 165 degrees.
Pork or ham need a minimum of 145 degrees.
And water ain't gonna boil until you hit 212 degrees.

Why am I giving you cooking instructions? Because I wonder about Jesus' purpose in telling us this:

"I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were one or the other! So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth." - Revelation 3:15,16

Perhaps the deal is, it just ain't healthy to undercook things that really matter...like faith.

How far have you turned up the heat? Or are you just not ready to really dine on the divine quite yet?

Jesus goes on to say, "You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are poor, wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear to cover your shamefulness nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see." - Revelation 3:17,18

If you really want transformation, you need to put your whole life into the restoring "heat" of God's love. Let him burn off your impurities and see who He really created you to be. If you need more convincing, look no further than a few additional cooking instructions. This time, let's go deeper with a little sea food...

Scallops must be cooked until the flesh is milky.
Shrimp must be cooked until flesh is pearly.
Clams must be cooked until the shells open.

Bon Appetit!
