"For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly." Psalm 84:11

This is one of my favorite Bible promises, and as I was reading it this week, I considered how often the Lord (or the presence of the Lord) is called a sun, a flame, a light or fire. It got me thinking about how willing He is to guide us, to use us to light the dark, to purify us and to comfort. I also began thinking about the role that spending time in His presence plays in making all of that possible.

Yep, it caused me to do a great deal of thinking, and eventually, I began to think about the lukewarm times in my life. I realized it was distance from His presence that caused me to cool off and also realized how I'd wasted precious opportunities to absorb His "heat" and find the power to pass it on.

So, as I write, I'm thinking of those of you who may also be cooling off because of your distance from the Son. I'm praying that you'll feel the power and warmth of His light once again, and if I can pray for you specifically, drop me a comment and let me know.

"For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness." Psalm 84:10
