Overcoming Winter

My husband and I have known many winters--marital winters, financial winters, emotional winters, you name it. We've known wintry days when we thought we'd be blown over by the storm, and cold, bitter nights when we thought the sun would never rise. We've trudged uphill through torrential winds and plowed through miles and miles of ice and snow. To say it in non-winter terms, we've been through some serious stuff!

And, while much of that "stuff" appeared to be strong enough to destroy us, we've survived. We pushed through winter season after winter season and we've emerged stronger, wiser and whole.  It still surprises us to look back and see how much we've overcome and our only reasonable response is gratefulness to God. My hope, as I write, is that the same power that reached through our winters will reach through yours. May you know the joy of looking back and seeing just how able He is to help you overcome.

"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will  have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."  - John 16:33
