Why do I have faith in Jesus Christ? Why do I love Him?
I love Him because He has always been there.
I sensed him when I was young. His presence was undeniable
as I got older – even when, for a time, I tried to convince myself He wasn't there.
He is there when theology makes sense. He is there when it
doesn’t.
He is there when I’m trying to figure things out. He is
there to celebrate when I do.
He is there when I’m singing ancient hymns every bit as much
as He is there when I’m rocking out to contemporary tunes.
He is there when things are going great. He is there when
things are going down the commode.
He does not orchestrate my life. But he doesn’t miss a beat
of it.
I feel Him cry when I cry. I feel Him laugh when I laugh.
I feel Him hope with me, dream with me, and encourage me not
to give up on either my hopes or my dreams.
He is there when I’m exhausted. He is there when I’m
energized.
Because He is there, I am too.
He has always been there and always will be. He is the Alpha
and the Omega. The beginning and the end.
He is there.
Don’t believe me? I challenge you to take roll call. Go
ahead. Call His name.
I guarantee you’ll hear, “Present!”
And He is. He really is.
What a gift.
