“YOU DON’T HAVE TO YELL! I’M STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO YOU!!! And stop kung-fu fighting with your brother before one of you gets hurt!!”
“Be quiet!” Jesus said sternly, “Come out of him!” Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring him. (Luke 4:35)
“Yes, Mama’s sick now too. But no, inexplicably, Mama doesn’t seem to have a fever, so what can I do for you, Simon?”
Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus to help her. So he bent over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up at once and began to wait on them. (Luke 4:38,39)
(2:00am) “Mama, I’ve got a bad headache and my throat hurts.” (Temp taken...101...meds given...tucked in bed with me)
(3:30am) “Mama!” (other shorty runs into room covering ears) “That crummy owl is bothering me again…”
When the sun was setting, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them. (Luke 4:40)
“Mama! Why is the bathroom door locked??? I want to come in with you!”
At daybreak Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving them. (Luke 4:42)
Jesus may not have been a “Mama”. But he was/is a parent.
He knows. Sometimes, you just need to walk away.
Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. (Luke 5:15,16)
May you escape to God and find abundant rest this Summer!
