It was a simple Lutheran service. Refined, and calm, the congregation sat with their hearts meditating on the readings of the day. The piano twiddled and we began the next hymn. This classic, written in the mid 1800s by a passionate female evangelist in England was new to me. It struck me, as one who loves writing, how perfect the lyrics were. Out of all the stories I could tell and musings I could offer - there is one above all others. It remains, the story I most love to tell.
I Love to Tell the Story
I love to tell the story of unseen things above,Of Jesus and his glory, of Jesus and his love.I love to tell the story, because I know 'tis true;It satisfies my longings as nothing else can do.
I love to tell the story, 'twill be my theme in glory,To tell the old, old story of Jesus and his love.
I love to tell the story; more wonderful it seemsThan all the golden fancies of all our golden dreams.I love to tell the story, it did so much for me;And that is just the reason I tell it now to thee.
I love to tell the story, 'twill be my theme in glory,To tell the old, old story of Jesus and his love.
