A Letter of Desire

Hey there,

They say that prayer should be as natural as talking with a friend. So here I go…

I know you probably don’t like it that it seems as if I’m always asking you for what I want, instead of asking what I can do for you. That probably doesn’t seem very noble to you. I know you would rather I concentrate on YOUR desires, and YOUR will. I just have to be honest, though. I find that really hard; especially when I think I know what’s best for my life and my future. Perhaps you think that arrogant of me to say. I’m sorry if you do. I can’t help but be myself.

I have a confession to make. The thing is, I have deep-seeded desires. Sometimes I feel my heart will burst for want of them. Did you know that? I mean, do you really know that? Because I think that if you really loved me, you would know that it would change everything if my desires were in line with yours too. So I’m asking…would you please give my dreams a chance?

It would really mean a lot to me if I knew you were listening to me. I’ve written to you before, many times. I wonder what you must think when you read my letters. Do you think me demanding? Or can you see how much I love you?
