Expectations: Prologue

Is your walk with Christ everything you expect it to be? Are there times you are disappointed with the circumstances of your life? If we’re doing our best to follow God and grow closer to Him, shouldn’t life be, well…easier? Doesn’t God love us and want us to be happy?

I think many of our expectations of the Christian life are more influenced by the American Dream than the Word of Truth. Was it Thomas the Apostle or Thomas Jefferson who talked about Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness?

If we get this part wrong, if our expectations of what our Christian lives should look like don’t match God’s truth, we are setting ourselves up for, at best, a life full of disappointment, and at worst, a crisis of faith from which we might not recover.

Join me this week as we examine what we can expect from a life spent following God.
