Misfit Musings

Confession.

I am 32 years old.  And sometimes.  Okay, more than some times. I feel completely awkward.

Did I just say that? Did I just do that? Did I just wear that?  What was I thinkin'?

Awkward.

I think I might have felt right at home on the Island of Misfit Toys with Rudolph.  He feared never fitting in because of a big glowing nose - and yet the very thing that he thought would keep him from his destiny, is exactly what made him the perfect fit for the reindeer line up.

Maybe there's a little bit of misfit in each of us - the part of us that no matter how much we want to blend in or be like the rest, refuses to step down. And maybe, there's a really good reason for that.

Maybe we're all misfits for a reason.

"As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God." 1 Peter 4:10

In truth, all those little things that make us who we are can be beautiful expressions of who God is.  Sometimes we need grace to embrace the person God created us to be - and to love Him in return.  Those things that set us apart can be blessings to those around us as we lend our strength to one another.

This Christmas - embrace your inner misfit.
Jesus was rejected, but he lived without excusing who He was - and the world saw God when He did.
Don't hide who God created you to be.
You never know who might get a glimpse of Christ in you.
