Not Your Love

“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.” – 1 John 4: 7

Did ya get that? Love comes from God.

Not from you.

This is great news! Know why? Because we (the people) tend to be all lovey dovey with folks who are kind, clean, and in general, charming. But we (the people) struggle a bit when it comes to loving our insensitive, filthy, and generally annoying “neighbors”, even when we know we’re supposed to.

Let there be a collective sigh of relief heard round the world. You don’t have to muster up the strength to love the seemingly unlovable. (You can’t anyway; at least not all on your own.) Instead, you get the love from God. And then you give it away. Easy peasy.

Still having problems loving the frustrating among us (perhaps even including yourself)? You are hereby challenged to ponder this for a bit:

“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” – 1 John 4:8

You can’t give Love away until you have it.

Go get it. God has been waiting to give it to you.

(Don’t worry about grabbing too much. His doesn't run out like ours does.)
