Gentle Wound Care

I'm a pull-the-bandage-off-slowly kinda gal. No ripping it off in one fell swoop for me. I'm a steady as you go, dab the edges with oil and pull gingerly type of patient. And, though you tell me it won't hurt long, when it comes to caring for my wounds, gentle is the only way to go.

The Father knows that about me. So, when it comes to dealing with the wounds of my heart, He rarely takes the rip-the-bandage-off-quickly approach. Instead, He leans in closely, speaks softly and gently comforts like only a loving parent can. Yep, my big strong, mighty God stoops down to my level to gently remind me that He's here and He heals. The same God who valiantly fights for me also lovingly and gently administers His care.

He has an approach that makes it all better. His words. His touch. His kindness. My prayer is that you'll experience His gentleness in your times of pain. Even if you prefer to have your bandages ripped right off, you'll find that nothing compares to those healing moments.

He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm, And carry them in His bosom, And gently lead those who are with young.  Isaiah 40:11
