A few musings on the topic of eternity...
Favorite verse on eternity:
"He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end." Ecclesiastes 3:11
I love this because it explains why so many people - even those who don't know Jesus, have this stirring in their heart that there must be more to life than just this - our hearts were created with eternity in mind. Our purpose was formed with eternity in mind. No one's fond of death, because our hearts speak to us that we were created to overcome it.
Favorite question concerning eternity:
What is God's vision for us on the other side of death? We are all familiar with those pictures in our minds of angels with harps on clouds whiling away their eternity. But God is purposeful - a dreamer with vision. So I wonder what we'll all be up to when God and man are reunited to live in each other's presence again. I'm convinced there will be dreams and visions we'll go after together, I ponder what those might be.
Favorite quote on eternity:
"When you feel the longing, know what it is.
Don't look for something on this earth to heal it. It won't heal.
It is your heart string tied to your heavenly home.
Sit back in the ache of it.
And know that every time you feel it,
it is the echo of reality.
This is not all there is."
-Beth Moore
