The Words of Jeremiah

The words of Jeremiah have been a mainstay as I've walked with the Lord. They have encouraged me, comforted me, convicted me and given me repeated glimpses into God's perfect plan for my life.

There are those familiar phrases:

"Before I formed you..."

"Break up your fallow ground..."

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you..."

And, the more obscure:

"Your sins have withheld good from you..."

"Ask for the old paths, where the good way is..."

"You are near in their mouth but far from their mind..."

I've read and re-read, hi-lighted and underlined, written note after note in the margins and watched the Truth of those pages bear fruit in my life. There is something about the book of Jeremiah that exposes my human-ness but gives me hope that I am still accepted and called. I invite you to get to know Jeremiah a bit better and to allow his words to poke at your heart in the same ways.
