There
are a couple of Prophets with whom I would love to chat over coffee.
Oh,
who am I kidding. I’d love to have a
full-blown seminar with power point presentation and the works.
I
find the prophet Isaiah fascinating for his forceful imagery and his many
prophecies of the coming Messiah. His
longevity, prophesying during the reign of at least four kings of Judah, is
something that intrigues me. There are
too many verses to list them all here, but a few of my favorites include 30:21 and 40:31. Isaiah 61:1-2 is significant as the scripture Jesus used to
announce his ministry. A friend suggested
praying Isaiah 55 over those we wish
to see saved. Verses 8-11 in chapter 55 are
also some of my current personal faves.
Daniel
is a favorite prophet of mine primarily because of his character. Exiled to Babylon as a young man with his
friends Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, Daniel became the Chief Magus (Magi) to
King Nebuchadnezzar. A man of impeccable
integrity, he served several pagan kings, lived his adult life in a pagan land,
survived a night in a lions’ den and had some super cool prophetic
visions. Daniel Chapter 10 is a highlight for me because of the insight it gives us
into the workings of the spirit world.
I
also would like to talk with these guys because their work figures prominently
in my current film project. I have a
few questions for Isaiah on some of his Messianic prophecies. As for Daniel, I’d like his take on a theory that
he may have founded a school of Magi in Babylon, which became the famed Eastern
School. It’s quite possible that the Magi of Matthew 2, of the Eastern School, were of Jewish descent. Why else might learned astrologers from The
East have any interest in worshiping a Jewish king?
For
me, the coolest thing is that I WILL get to talk to these two prophets, and
many more. An
eternity in Heaven with them should provide enough time to answer all my
questions.
Get
ready, fellas. Debbie’s coming.
