In Search of a Spiritual Mom

I gotta tell ya, the search for spiritual moms and mentors is a daunting task. These sages are not typically lingering around waiting to be found. Like a needle in a haystack, they have to be carefully sought out.

Nope, you can’t go searching all willy-nilly for a spiritual mom. You have to be committed to the search and once you’ve found her, you have to be committed to the relationship. Neither of those tasks can be taken lightly, so here are a few things to consider as you set out on the search:

1. Look for someone wise.
2. Look for someone who has been vetted.
3. Look for someone who is committed to righteous living.
4. Look for someone with the time and interest to mentor.
5. Consider it prayerfully.

Of course, the list is not all-inclusive, but these are key things to keep in mind when you’re planning to allow someone to speak into your life on a regular basis. As a last suggestion, be bold enough to ask the Father who He has appointed to be a mentoring voice in your life. Ask Him how to approach her and trust Him to answer.
