Rest

This past Sunday morning, one of our Pastors was preaching about spiritual warfare. He was saying that the enemy tries to beat us down by hitting us over and over again until we're worn out. Even as he was speaking, I was getting a mental picture in my head of the way the enemies of Israel used to attack them. They would take a battering ram and hit the City gate continuously, until ultimately it broke through.

I've found this form of attack to be true in my own life. Often times I'm ready for the BIG battle -I see it coming, and I gear up for it. It's the constant, little fiery trials along the way that eventually send me over the edge. I find myself wanting to cry out "I quit!"

However, instead of giving up, in times like these, I remember this awesome promise from God, and hear His voice beckoning me to come away with Him.

Matthew 11:28 "Come to me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

This is not a "go to sleep" kind of rest He's promising...It's a promise of peace, joy, grace, and strength. It's the rest that rejuvenates me for the battle to go back and claim victory!
