A Planting

 Kneeling down, I admired the little flower bud.  It had grown in only a matter of minutes.  It was supposed to take so much longer to grow, I thought reaching out to knock a few drops of water off of it. Across the row of rose bushes, I saw little buds emerging throughout.

My hands were anchored in the soil now, holding me steady as I watched the magnificent display before me.  Buds formed, branches grew, and flowers bloomed in abundance.  I had thought the roses beautiful before, but nothing compare to them now, in size, in color, and aroma. Water continued to drip from my hair to the soil.

Feeling drops of water on my head, I looked up to see Papa standing over me now, smiling.

“That was a good fight.” He offered finally picking pieces of water balloon off of the branches.
I nodded my head unable to take my eyes off of the blooming bushes.

“It was nothing like I expected.” I admitted.
“Pruning rarely is.” He replied.

“But the godly will flourish like palm trees
and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon.
 For they are transplanted to the Lord’s own house. They flourish in the courts of our God.
Even in old age they will still produce fruit;
they will remain vital and green.
 They will declare, “The Lord is just! He is my rock!
There is no evil in him!” Psalm 92:12-15 (NLT)
