He declared toys to be "illegal, unmoral, unlawful, and anyone found with a toy in his possession will be placed under arrest and thrown in the dungeon. No kidding!"  He declared the kindest and bravest of men, Kris Kringle, to be Public Enemy #1.  He is Burgermeister Meisterburger, the Mayor of Sombertown in “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town.”

He works hard, provides for his family, freely shares blessings from his heart and lessons from his experience, and bows to no Meisterburger.  He is Duck Commander’s and Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson.

Unless you’ve had your head in a snow bank the past couple of days, you have heard the uproar on comments Phil made in GQ magazine, and Duck Dynasty’s network, A&E, suspending him from the show.

It’s far too soon to know what the next chapters in the story contain, but my plan is this: Give it time.  It will all shake out.

You see, Truth has a way of emerging through the muck of fear and the mire of falsehood.  Love has a way of softening the most stubborn of hearts.  In the end, Good wins, and after the credits roll, Generosity and Integrity and Faith and Family remain.

That’s what happened in the “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town” TV show:  “The Meisterburgers, they kind of died off and fell out of power.  By and by the good people realized how silly the Meisterburger laws were.  Well, everybody had a wonderful laugh and then forgot all about them.”

Perhaps in this season of “Peace on Earth, Good Will to Men,” that will also happen with another TV show.
