There is a
time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
Yeah, we know--weep, laugh, mourn, dance, blah, blah
,blah, we got it. We know life is full
of constant and continual change.
Not all change is bad, but all change requires
adjustment. As wonderful as a change may be—love, children, adventure, purpose—something
has to be let go to make way for the new.
Harry
Levinson said, “All change is loss, and all loss must be mourned.” I’ve been feeling that a lot lately. I’ve not had any “major” changes, but I’ve
had enough over the past few years that I feel…unsteady. Too many people have come and gone from my life. Projects have been started, and a few have even been finished. Passions have been
discovered, pursued, and some let go. My
boys are growing MUCH too fast. It feels
more like a time OF everything than a time FOR everything. I know this is a period of transition and
good things are coming but the loss is still there.
Fortunately,
I know The One who fills loss. I know
The One who heals broken hearts and redeems relationships. I know The One who is rock steady in shifting sand. I know The One who lights the way and holds
my hand as He walks it with me.
Change
and loss will come, but He is the same
yesterday, today and forever. (Hebrews
13:8)
