In Psalm 16, David is talking about how wonderful it is to be in God’s presence, both here on earth, as well as the promise of the coming Messiah and resurrection (vs. 10). In verse 11, he goes on to explain God’s presence this way…
“You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
John 15:9-11 talks about abiding in God’s love – in verse 11 Jesus said:
“These things I have spoken to you (talking about abiding in His love) that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.”
So we see from these two verses that abiding in God’s presence and love brings His joy, in it’s fullness!

We witness this again as we study the Christmas story – through the angels proclamation in Luke 2:10:
“But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.”(NIV)
What was the good news that would bring great joy?

That on that day, a Savior was born, who is Christ the Lord! (vs. 11) On that day, true joy entered the world. He may live in Heaven at the right hand of the Father, but He promised He would not leave us as orphans (John 14:18-20). He still resides in us as well – and we have access to His joy, so that our joy may be FULL!

Throughout this busy holiday season, I pray that you’ll find time to celebrate His presence and partake in this fullness of joy.
