Got summer plans? How about making time for a little reading? Here are a few books I think you’ll enjoy. I give you…(cue the drumroll)

Katie’s Seven Summits of Summer Reading

Genesis - After 150 days of floating around, Noah’s Ark comes to rest on the mountains of Ararat. People and animals, spared from the flood, walk out into a new life.

Genesis (yes, again)Abraham takes his son, Isaac, up the mountain to make a sacrifice to the Lord. The Lord Himself provides the sacrifice.

Exodus - God delivers his people from over 400 years of slavery to the Egyptians. After leading them into the wilderness, Moses speaks to God face to face on Mount Sinai. God dictates to Moses a new law for a new life in freedom.

MatthewJesus gives a great sermon on a mountainside covering all manner of moral hot topics, clarifying God’s law and heart. He declares he has come to fulfill the law.

MarkJesus takes his closest buddies up a high mountain where he was transfigured before them into a dazzling white alongside Moses (of the old covenant) and Elijah (who must come before the messiah).

JohnThe Lord Himself provides the sacrifice as Jesus is crucified on a hillside. People everywhere and for all time are given freedom from bondage. New life is on its way. Forever.

And there you have it folks. And if you hadn’t noticed, not only are all these books part of the same story…but they tell the same story. Grace. Sacrifice. Redemption. New Life. Forever.

Wait, wait, wait! What’s that, you say? I can’t count? Oh…well, the thing is I don’t know the name of the seventh book because it belongs to you.

It’s the story of His life in yours.

You tell me. What’s that one about?
