All Talk?

Proverbs 14:23. All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads to poverty.

Say what you mean, mean what you say, and do what you promise to do.”
This is simple. Straight. Direct. Sometimes truth comes down like a 2x4, doesn't it?

Scripture has a lot to say about the importance and power of our speech.

It continually amazes me how stuck we get talking in circles about how we're going to do THIS, and refrain from THAT. Yet, upon further analysis of the hard work it will take to be able to do THIS or not do THAT, we merely continue spiraling, spouting off even more empty words to explain why we've now decided to forget the whole thing.

Dizzy much?

We lean on and trust Christ's WORDS. We take Him at his very WORD. Jesus, is a great example of the opposite of being “all talk”. Unless we're willing to put forth effort and take action, perhaps it would just be wiser to remain silent?
