I can still remember walking down the hallway of my childhood home and seeing, amid a cluster of family photos, each of our names framed individually with the meaning written beneath it. I can’t remember what my brothers’ names meant, but I have never forgotten what my sister’s name means. Sara means “Princess.”
Uh-huh.
Of COURSE it does. She was about four, and I was around 10. I had not found myself to be convicted of coveting yet.
Guess what my name means?
“Pure one.”
At ten-years-old, I thought this was incredibly boring.
I lamented my stupid “name-meaning”.
However, fast forward just a few years, and I find I marvel at the purity I witness in my children.
Pure honesty.
Pure adventure.
Pure joy.
Pure LOVE.
Filters removed.
Purely dependent on their parent.
Suddenly, "Pure One" doesn't sound so boring.
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” - Matthew 5:8
(P.S. Sara, Princess are still cool too...)
