My comforter, my all in all
Here in the love of Christ I stand.
- song "In Christ Alone"
This week I've been reading and rereading the book of James. My heart is drawn to the verses about wisdom - how God gives it freely to those who ask, but you must believe He is going to give it to you.
The promises in God's word are my comfort. They never change, and my God is faithful to fulfill every one. But how often do I find myself doubting? More than I'd care to confess.
This week I've been asking God for wisdom to situations in my life on my drive to work- insight for navigating relationships and loving and leading my students well. I've been faced with challenges where truly, only God knows the best solution.
This week God has blessed me with fresh wisdom. The other day I knew I would need my class of 8, 9, and 10 year olds to be able to work quietly and focused for about an hour so I could do reading assessments one-on-one with students. This can be a very tall order for some kids. A few minutes before they returned from recess God gave me a new idea that empowered my class to monitor themselves and get all their work done so quietly you could have heard a pin drop. It may not sound too profound - but in my world, it's amazing!
He is my comfort. He has my back. I can trust in Him and rest in Him - because He will come through as His word declares! And so I stand, comforted in His love.
"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt..." James 1:5-6
