Wrestling Flesh

Ever read the verse that says we don't wrestle against flesh and blood? I have. And, while I believe that verse with all my heart, I have definitely known some flesh I'd love to wrestle with until I saw a little blood.
I know--that's no way to begin a devotional on loving your enemies, but we're nothing if not transparent at Daily Fast Fuel. I figured I'd start this post by admitting that enemy-loving is far from easy for this gal. It's one of those commands I wish I could avoid and it's taken trough-sized outpourings of grace to obey.
I'm definitely a work in progress in this area, but one thing I've learned is to faithfully pray for people with whom I have conflict. It's a way of loving them that I have no room to boast about. I never know how the Lord answers, I just trust that he does.
And, since I know how dangerous it would be to pray my own plans, I stick to praying the Lord's. I don't know of any specific Scripture dedicated to praying for our enemies (except for David's prayers that his be destroyed!), so I've prayed the same verses in Colossians 1 that He drew me to many years ago. I pray the words aloud, by faith whether I "feel" it and until I do. What a way to wrestle my own flesh while blessing my enemies in the process.
