Embracing Fall

My
favorite thing about fall is the changing colors of the leaves. I am awed, year after year, by the process of
fading chlorophyll revealing the vivacious reds, oranges and yellows that have
been masked all summer long.
Despite
the fact that I have witnessed autumn more than forty times I have never waned
in appreciating the wonder of the aging majesty. In fact, I identify with it.
In
many ways it could be said that I am in the autumn of my life. The way I am choosing to embrace it is to
shed the chlorophyll of peer pressure, of societal expectations, of Shoulds and
Musts and Because I Said Sos. I am purposing
to look, and behave, less like everyone else and more like the singular woman
God created me to be.
My
friends, no matter what season of life we’re in, we can seek God's unique purpose for us and call forth the bright
yellows, fiery oranges, and magnificent reds that have been hiding behind fashion
dos and don’ts, makeup trends and fitness fads.
Break
away from shades of green and embrace all that God has designed deep inside of
you.
But as for the seed sown on good soil,
this is the person who hears the word and understands. [She] bears fruit,
yielding a hundred, sixty, or thirty times what was sown. (Matthew 13:23, NET)
