Apostolic Life

I often think to myself how remarkable it would be to have spent time walking with the apostles - to see the church birthed and begin to grow.  The process of spreading the Good News and giving leadership to the church while discipling new believers was not for the faint of heart.  Their courage stirs me, but their humanity captivates me.  If God could use twelve ragamuffin men to forever change the world what might He accomplish through me - a rather ragamuffin young lass myself?

I am moved again by the reminder that almost all of the original twelve were martyred for their faith.  I wonder if I too have the faith and fortitude to endure as they did.

"That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life" I John 1:1-2

They were living in light of eternity.

How's that going for you today?
