Follow the True Light

I've loved the song "Here I Am to Worship" for awhile, but when I heard it recently, I really focused on the first verse with a fresh perspective. It goes like this:
"Light of the World, You stepped down into darkness, Opened my eyes let me see...Beauty that made this heart adore you, hope of a life spent with you."
Jesus is the light of the world (John 9:5), and the world is, and always has been, full of darkness.
How symbolic that the Wise Men saw a great light and followed that bright star to find Jesus in their desire to worship Him. You've probably heard the saying "Wise Men Still Seek Him" - that is so true. People are still searching for a way out of the darkness that surrounds them. Unfortunately not everyone seeks the true light, but often tries to find a substitute.

2 Cor. 4:4 says:
"The god of this age (Satan) has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God."
It goes on to say in verse 6
"For God, who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness', made his light shine in our hearts to give us light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ."
It's the age old story - you have a choice whom you'll believe and serve...choose good or evil; choose God, or by default, you choose Satan. Satan is as always, a counterfeit of God - Jesus is the light of the world, but in 2 Cor. 11:14 it states:
"...Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light"
We must be careful to recognize the TRUE light, and not be fooled by a "light substitute" that in the end, leads us down the path of darkness and destruction.

Thankfully we have a 100% guaranteed way to make sure we're imitating the Wise Men,  following the light of the world... it's found in:
Psalm 119:105 - "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path."
