Mornings and Fragrant Surprises
How can anyone forget about an event that always comes around? An anniversary, dental appointment, tax season, daffodils popping up right before Easter...or that God is never late. Ever.
Unlike me who totally forgot about my deadline.
But that is the reality of our loving Father. He does not forget. His faithfulness is guaranteed even if we forget to trust or believe He is actually aware of our winter season. Every single time.
Then all of a sudden, just like a Spring morning filled with dew, God has given us sweet gentle unexpected surprises of His fragrant Love. He reminds us that He never left us; we are never forsaken.

Awakening
Recently God
has been taking me on a journey of awakening.
He has taken my hand, walked me out of my comfort zone and with much
patience and tenderness has opened my eyes to see His heart. I need to be transparent and vulnerable with
you right now. I was not prepared to share this but in order to break my chains
of complacency, I must.
One morning in
my quiet time, I felt an overwhelming flood of Love wash over me. In that
moment, I saw my life and everything around me literally in God’s hands. The
fact I was alive that very morning is God’s gift. The fact I was even born is
God’s gift. The fact that I was born in America is God’s gift.
Can you and
I chew on that last statement?
I am in a
country where there is food on store shelves.
There is clean, drinkable water in the tap. There is a secure door on my
home. We have more than one change of clothes. We have a school my daughter can
attend. I have access to doctors if any of us are ill. There is not one but TWO
vehicles in the driveway. The list goes on and on and on…
I don’t know
why God purposed me to be born here and not in a slum in Africa or India or the
Philippines or any other part of the world where to simply live would not
necessarily be a given. What I do know is
what His Word says to me, “When
someone has been given much, much will be required in return;” (Lk 12:48)
I don’t know about you but
God is lovingly reminding me that I am an earthen vessel full of His blessings.
What good am I to sit still and not pour out?
I become like stagnant water. Instead, I can be life giving by being thankful
for what I already have and learning to live simply so others may simply live. I
am grateful to my Heavenly Father for this awakening. I am ready to celebrate,
share and declare the greatness of God!

But Expect God's Timely Provision: Chapter 2
In the movie Star Wars, Luke Skywalker had his light saber and Obi-Wan Kenobi. In The Sound of Music, Maria had her fierce tenacity and the Reverend Mother. In Sleepless in Seattle, Annie had an unshakeable sense that there was more out there and a best friend that alternately helped and hindered her pursuit. Each of these characters had an object/quality/desire to assist in their quest and a mentor to help guide them. In all good movies (and stories), the author provides what the character needs to succeed when they need it. Nothing is random or haphazard. Our stories, written by The Author, are no different.
One of my favorite verses bears this out. Paul says, God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:8, NIV) Did you catch all that? ALL things. ALL times. ALL you need. EVERY good work.
Yes, our worlds may be falling apart. Someone is losing a battle with cancer. Someone is losing their home to foreclosure. Dire situations with dire consequences rule the day. And yet Paul says we will be, we ALREADY ARE, abundantly blessed with all we need to make it through.
I love the expression, “God is always on time, rarely early." Our God, who created suspense, loves to come through in the nick of time. I've seen it so many times I've come to expect it. We may not yet see evidence of God's provision with our own eyes, but that does not mean it isn't coming. Keep walking through your story, word by word, sentence by sentence, paragraph by paragraph, and you WILL come to the next chapter.
