"Just as rain and snow descend from the skies
and don’t go back until they’ve watered the earth,
Doing their work of making things grow and blossom,
producing seed for farmers and food for the hungry,
So will the words that come out of my mouth
not come back empty-handed.
They’ll do the work I sent them to do,
they’ll complete the assignment I gave them." Isaiah 55:10-11 (The MSG)
I love that God's Word is like a seed in our hearts. What He has spoken, He will do.
His promises are secure. This week we are musing about harvesting God's Word.
To begin, there must be a planting.
How are you planting His Word in your heart?
Do you have a plan for reading the Bible?
Do you discipline yourself to memorize scripture?
Do you sing God's Word to knit it in your heart?
To grow, there must be a nourishing.
How are your nourishing what you've put in your heart or mind? Do you study the Bible, considering how the words effect your life? Do you talk about it with friends? Do you apply it to your life? Do you pray scripture?
To harvest, there must be a gathering.
How is His Word bearing fruit in your life? How do you take what you are learning and give it to others through word or action, so they can partake in the goodness of God?
It IS harvest season. Consider the field of your heart this week.
