The Courage to Believe

Do you believe that Jesus raised himself from the dead?

No, really.

Do you really believe that after a brutal beating, Jesus’ body gave out, his heart stopped beating, and he was buried three days. And then Jesus, in a fully restored body got up and walked out of the tomb which had held him?

This is an important consideration, my friends, because if you do believe this to be true, you must have the courage to believe the rest of it too. You must have the courage to believe that forgiveness must be given and received. You must have the courage to believe that renewal and transformation can and will be a part of your story when you follow Him. You must have the courage to believe that you can talk to a God who can and does listen to every word you say – because he loves you that much and more. You must have the courage to believe that with the Holy Spirit in your heart, you can love and serve your neighbor with a compassion you couldn’t muster all on your own.

You must have the courage to believe, as Jesus’ story continues to unfold in my life and yours, that our stories are all leading to a singular conclusion.

Jesus is going to return. He is going to forgive. He is going to restore. He is going to breathe new and eternal life into each of us.

No, really!

Do you have the courage to believe it?
